Sam Murphy Delivers Dinner to Local Fire Station

As a professional goalkeeper and a military daughter, Sam Murphy (formerly Leshnak) is always moving. Even amidst a pandemic, she is still staying active through online and at-home workouts. When the opportunity arose for Murphy to safely leave her home and deliver dinner to the Morrisville Station One Fire Station, it was a no-brainer. Murphy had a connection to the Morrisville Fire Station through her friend Matt who she met at O2 Fitness, a partner of the North Carolina Football Club. She reached out to him amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, knowing that being a firefighter in these circumstances could not be easy. “I have a deep appreciation for Matt because my family was in the military service,” Murphy said. “I know what it is like for the people on the front, so I just reached out to see how things were going.” The goalkeeper found out from their conversation that their worlds were very different during this time. While she was “working from home”, her friend was risking his health every time he was called to do a job. “I could tell when I spoke to him on the phone that there was a little bit of weight on him like he was going through something very different than what I was experiencing being in my house,’ Murphy said. She found out that a way she could support Matt and the fire station was by providing them with a meal. She decided to order catering from North Carolina FC partner, Enrigo Italian Bistro and deliver it for dinner that night. “I went with chicken parmesan, salad, and greens,” said Murphy. “Amy from Enrigo was so kind. She threw in pizza, breadsticks, and dessert once she found out I was taking it to the firefighters.” After picking up the catering curbside, Murphy delivered it to the Fire Station where she was able to meet all of the firefighters from a safe social distance. After taking her temperature, they invited her into the station for a distanced tour and to take a picture with the fire trucks. “I just urge people to do the little things you can during this time,” Murphy said.
