NC Courage player Sam Mewis is auctioning off her game-worn Pride jersey this month with proceeds benefitting Playing For Pride beginning Wednesday, August 2 and ending Saturday, August 12 at 2:58 pm ET. The US Women’s National Team wore these jerseys in their recent Scandinavian trip in recognition of LGTBQ Pride Month. The jersey being auctioned off by Mewis was worn on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the USWNT’s match against Sweden where Mewis played the full 90 minutes.

Mewis along with NC Courage teammates McCall Zerboni, Jess McDonald and Lynn Williams have all pledged to support “Playing for Pride,” a movement started to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQ community. The cause was started by North Carolina FC teammate Austin da Luz and has quickly gained momentum in the NASL, NWSL, and even in some international leagues. The Playing for Pride movement already has over 55 participants in all professional U.S. leagues, as well as in international leagues. Da Luz started the Playing for Pride team on April 4 and since then the team has raised over $10,000 for the Human Rights Campaign through player donations as well as fan contributions. The Playing for Pride team has pledged to donate $2 per game played, $3 per game started, $4 per assist and $5 per goal throughout the season. Fans are encouraged to match donations of players, but are also welcome to donate at their own pace.
