Cary, N.C. (July 18, 2018) – The North Carolina Courage have signed four players as national team replacements in advance of the match against Utah Royals FC on Friday, July 20. Defenders Carlin Hudson, Morgan Reid and Ryan Williams and midfielder Sarah Teegarden, will all be added to the active roster as Abby Dahlkemper, Crystal Dunn, Merritt Mathias, Samantha Mewis, Jaelene Hinkle and McCall Zerboni, are away on international duty in advance of the Tournament of Nations, which begins on July 26.

Additionally, Debinha, who has been called up for Brazil for the same tournament, will remain with the team until after the Utah match and will be available for selection on Friday night.

Reid, a defender from Duke, grew up in Cary, N.C., and helped Duke to the College Cup Final during the 2017 season. The CASL (now NCFC Youth) product was a starter for the Blue Devils from the beginning. A Cardinal Gibbons High School graduate, she started in all 26 games for Duke in 2017, helping the team to a record-breaking 18 shutouts that year. She has international experience with the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team and the U-17 National Team. She was previously signed as a national team replacement in June.

Teegarden has trained with the team since the 2018 preseason and was previously signed as national team replacement in April, while midfielder Debinha was on international duty with Brazil in the 2018 Copa America tournament in Chile and again in early June when several players were on national team duty. Teegarden started every game during her college career at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., The midfielder from Monrovia, Calif., played in Sweden last year for Kopparbergs Goteborg FC.

A former Texas Christian University defender, Williams, earned First-Team Academic All-Big 12 honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and Academic Big 12 All-Rookie team honors in 2014. The Centennial, Colo., native started in all 22 games for the Horned Frogs in 2017, accumulating 2,018 minutes, one goal and six assists. Williams was also called into action as a national team replacement in June and appeared as a substitute in the NC Courage’s match at Houston on June 3, playing 10 minutes.

Hudson, a defender from Yale University is a Berkeley, Calif., native. She won Yale’s Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2016 after racking up 1,483 minutes out of a possible 1,502 for the Bulldogs. She was one of only four players to start every game that year. During the 2017 season, she started in all 17 games and provided a goal and three assists, her best performance in terms of points (8) in her college career.

Having secured a playoff berth with six games left in the regular season, the NC Courage turn their attention to the match at Utah Royals FC on Friday, July 20.
