Courage Trade Valérie Gauvin to Houston Dash
CARY, NC (August 23, 2022) — The North Carolina Courage today announced they have traded forward Valérie Gauvin to the Houston Dash in exchange for $25,000 in allocation money and a conditional second-round pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft.
Gauvin joined the Courage in late March, but never made an appearance for the club. Prior to her time in North Carolina, Gauvin was a powerful offensive forward for Everton Football Club of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The 25-year-old recorded five goals and one assist in 15 appearances (10 starts) for Everton in her first year with the Liverpool-based side, but an injury saw her sidelined for much of 2020-21.
Also a regular presence for the French first team, Gauvin scored 17 goals in 37 appearances for Les Bleues, and represented France in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scoring the opening tally for the French against Brazil.
The Courage return to action Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. ET, when they take on the Portland Thorns at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tickets can be purchased here and the match will be broadcast live on Paramount+ and Twitch.
