CARY, N.C. (Jan. 8, 2023) — The North Carolina Courage today announces the signing of free agent forward Bianca St-Georges to a two-year, guaranteed contract through the 2025 NWSL season. The deal also includes a mutual option for 2026.
The former West Virginia Mountaineer has spent her entire professional career in Chicago, drafted by the Red Stars in the third round of the 2019 NWSL Draft. She’s since racked up six goals and three assists in 2,714 minutes of NWSL regular season experience.
“I am beyond thrilled to join Courage Country. North Carolina is undoubtedly a winning culture and, as a competitor, it’s exactly where I want to be. This team is savvy, professional, fierce, and has incredibly high standards. I believe our personalities match well and I could not think of a better place to grow and reach my potential. I cannot wait to meet everyone and embrace this new journey with a reputable and promising team,” said St-Georges.
“Bianca is a great addition to our club. From my very first conversation with her, I heard someone who has a great perspective, work ethic, growth mindset, and someone who truly wants to be pushed and challenged to be better every day. She’s a very dynamic player and someone who will provide good balance for our roster as someone who can be a threat for us in various ways. We are extremely excited to have Bianca in North Carolina and I look forward to the impact she’ll have on our club,” said Courage head coach Sean Nahas.
St-Georges had her best statistical season for the Red Stars in 2023, scoring four goals and providing one assist across 1,574 minutes. She won 45.66% of her duels, created 18 chances and completed 69.38% of her passes last season. She also scored one goal and provided one assist in 350 minutes of UKG Challenge Cup action.
St-Georges is a native of The St. Felix de Valois, Quebec and made her senior Canadian National Team debut in a 0-0 draw against the Czech Republic on June 11, 2021. St-Georges has nine national team caps, including five starts, and earned a silver medal at the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. She also represented Canada at two FIFA youth tournaments.
St-Georges was a four-year starter for West Virginia University, making 81 appearances and logging 6,729 minutes, nine goals and 13 assists. St-Georges was named the Big 12 Defender of the Year in her senior season, scoring seven goals and helping the Mountaineers to a Big 12 Championship title and second round of the NCAA Tournament.
