CARY, N.C. (Dec. 4, 2023) – The North Carolina Courage have signed forward Tess Boade to a two-year, guaranteed contract through the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season, as announced by the club on Monday.
Boade had a star-studded career at Duke University, where she played five seasons due to the COVID-19 eligibility waiver. She was originally selected by NJ/NY Gotham FC in the 2021 NWSL College Draft but chose to return to Duke for her fifth year. She then joined the Courage as a trialist prior to the 2022 season and signed a contract at the start of the season.
“I am beyond excited to be signing for two more years with the Courage and to continue contributing to one of the best clubs in the world. The environment in North Carolina is challenging and competitive and I can’t wait to continue to be pushed every single day,” Boade said.
The Colorado native showed tremendous growth across the last two seasons, seeing increased playing time towards the tail-end of 2022. She was a mainstay in the lineup again in 2023 after missing the beginning of the year with a shoulder injury suffered while on loan in Australia.
She logged 804 minutes in the regular season in 2023, scoring one goal and adding a pair of assists. She completed 82.5% of passes and created 12 chances. She also appeared in and started five games in the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup, logging 410 minutes with one goal and one assist to help the Courage repeat as cup champions.
She appeared in five games, including four starts, in her debut professional season in 2022. She logged 330 minutes, scored two goals and added an assist.
The Courage now have 24 players under contract for the 2024 season, including six forwards.
