During National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), NC Courage is proud to bring a light to the 1 in 6 people facing infertility.
Cary, N.C. (April 27, 2023) – As part of National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), the North Carolina Courage and their Official Fertility Partner, Shady Grove Fertility (SGF), are raising awareness to the 1 in 6 people facing infertility.
“We’re so proud to be partners with the Courage, as they shine a light on family-building and fertility preservation for anyone who might be facing barriers to growing the family of their dreams — a testament to these players’ own courage and leadership on the issue of infertility awareness in our community,” shares Jennifer E. Mersereau, M.D., MSCI, Medical Director of SGF Carolinas. As the Official Fertility Partner of the Courage, SGF provides players and staff with fertility preservation and other family-building benefits and education. NIAW is a yearly initiative founded by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, of which SGF is a longtime sponsor, to encourage people to act as their own infertility advocates and to educate legislators and the public about the impact of infertility within their community. The Courage advocates for its fans to learn more about infertility through the many resources offered through SGF, including an extensive resource library, free virtual fertility events, and a thriving social media community. “It’s been enlightening to learn that as many as 1 in 6 people are experiencing infertility,” says Courage Assistant Coach, Emma Thomson. “It’s also encouraging to see how well SGF supports the LGBTQ+ community by offering a variety of treatment options ranging from low to high tech to help people from all walks of life start or grow their families. We appreciate being aligned with an organization that empowers the community to make informed healthcare choices. It’s our hope to add our voice to this important conversation and reduce the stigma that has existed for so long, so that more people can access top quality fertility care.” The SGF Carolinas team will be onsite at various games throughout the season to cheer on the Courage. Make sure to stop at the information booth to learn more about how SGF helps build happy, healthy families.
