CARY, N.C. (Feb. 7, 2024) — The North Carolina Courage and forward Tyler Lussi have agreed to terms on a guaranteed contract extension through the 2025 NWSL season with a mutual option for 2026.
Lussi joined the Courage via trade with Angel City FC prior to the 2023 season and had a breakout debut year in North Carolina. She played 1,124 minutes across 19 matches, including 13 starts in the regular season. Lussi ranked second on the team with six goals, five of which were match-winners.
“It’s great to hear of Tyler’s extension with the club. Since her arrival, she has fit in well to our style of play and has had an integral part on field for us. She has adjusted well here in NC and has played some of her best football. We are happy she wants to be here and help us continue to build and our write our story moving forward,” said Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas.

The Gibson Island, Maryland native begins her eighth NWSL season in 2024. After a stellar career at Princeton where she set the school record for goals and points, she was selected by Portland Thorns in third round of 2017 NWSL Draft. She made 42 appearances for the Thorns over four seasons, scoring five goals and adding four assists.
She was then traded to Angel City ahead of the 2021 expansion draft and made 20 appearances, including 16 starts, in Angel City’s 2022 inaugural season before joining the Courage via trade ahead of 2023.
The Courage are currently at IMG Academy as part of a preseason training camp in preparation for the 2024 NWSL regular season, which begins on Saturday, March 16, at 7:00pm ET against the Houston Dash at WakeMed Soccer Park.
