Carson Pickett added to United States Women’s National Team roster for friendly against Spain
Defender joins Casey Murphy as representatives of North Carolina Courage on United States roster for FIFA international window
CARY, N.C. (Oct. 8, 2022) — North Carolina Courage defender Carson Pickett will join the U.S. Women’s National Team in Spain as a replacement for defender Emily Fox, who is in concussion protocols after being forced to the leave the match against England on Oct. 7 in the 22nd minute. Pickett joins goalkeeper Casey Murphy as the second representative of the Courage on the U.S. roster for this international window.
Pickett earned her first and, thus far, only cap for the USWNT on June 28 vs. Colombia in Utah, becoming the first player with a limb difference to play for the USWNT. Pickett was born without her left forearm. Pickett played in 20 games for the Courage this season spanning 1,731 minutes and scored one goal from her outside back position. She also tied for the league lead in assists with six. After falling to England, 2-1, in a tightly contested match in front of 76,893 fans at Wembley Stadium, the USA has traveled to Spain where it will play the hosts in Pamplona on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at El Sadar Stadium (2:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. local on ESPN2). Spain drew 1-1 with Sweden on Oct. 7 it its first match of this FIFA window.
