ANAHEIM, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2024) — The North Carolina Courage is set for the 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally, at the Anaheim Convention Center during the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Convention. The draft kicks off at 8:00pm ET (5 PT) and will comprise of four rounds for the 14 teams competing in the 2024 NWSL season. The draft will air live on ION from 8:00 to 10:00 ET, with the remainder of the draft streaming on ION plus (utilize the channel finder to locate ION).
Full list of players registered for the 2024 NWSL Draft The North Carolina Courage have five picks of the maximum 56 in Friday’s draft, which is tied for second-most among all NWSL clubs (Utah – 9). The Courage has two first-round picks at fifth overall, acquired via trade from Houston, and the 10th pick as the team’s natural selection. The order of the draft is determined in reverse order of teams’ finish in the 2023 NWSL regular season standings, with the NWSL Champion, Gotham FC, getting the 14th pick and runner-up Seattle at 13. Round 4, 52nd overall The NWSL Draft will consist of a maximum of 56 selections made over four rounds. For the first round (picks #1 – #14), each team will have five (5) minutes to announce its pick. For the following rounds, each team will have three (3) minutes. There will be a 5-minute break after the first round, and a 2-minute break after the second round and the third round. Teams may request up to three (3) time-outs during the draft for further discussion, rule clarification, or trade discussion. Time-outs taken in all rounds will be three (3) minutes in length. Time-outs may not be used consecutively. The League may call a time-out at any time to resolve a procedural issue or for any other reason in its discretion.
