Cary, NC (July 28, 2017)- The North Carolina Courage has acquired midfielder and Irish International Denise O’Sullivan off waivers, the club announced today.
“Denise is an excellent footballer with superb soccer IQ, soft feet, and a Rolls Royce engine,” said NC Courage Head Coach Paul Riley. “She is hungry to show her value in this league, and her attributes fit our identity really well. Looking forward to watching her further develop her game around our other world-class midfielders”
The Cork, Ireland native spent the first part of the 2017 NWSL season with the Houston Dash, where she made 11 appearances and tallied one assist. She appeared in 29 total games for the Dash, scoring two goals and making four assists since April 2016.
Before Houston, O’Sullivan was a valuable member of Scottish Women’s Premier League’s Glasgow City since July 2013 and impressively won eight trophies with the club. During that time, she made 65 starts and scored 33 goals. O’Sullivan played for a number of European teams prior to Glasgow including Wilton United, Peamount United, and Cork City.
The 23-year-old also boasts international experience, as she has earned 51 caps for the Republic of Ireland since 2011. Since making her senior team debut at 17 years old, she’s scored eight goals for her home country.
