CARY, N.C. (July 13, 2023) – Six members of the North Carolina Courage are set to represent their respective countries at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup later this month, giving Courage Country several rooting interests in Australia and New Zealand. This is the comprehensive guide to following the Courage through the group stage, which airs on FOX and FS1 from July 20 through August 3.
Defender Emily Fox and goalkeeper Casey Murphy will represent the United States on soccer’s biggest stage for the first time each. The United States plays in Group E alongside Vietnam, Netherlands, and Portugal. Courage fans can cheer them on together with a pair of World Cup Watch Parties at Carolina Ale House: Friday, July 21 at the Briar’s Creek location and Wednesday, July 26, at the Cary location.

Courage captain Denise O’Sullivan leads Ireland to their first-ever Women’s World Cup, part of Group B with host Australia, Nigeria, and Canada. O’Sullivan’s Girls in Green will be on the main stage as they aim to spoil the hosts’ opening game in the 80,000-seat, sold out Stadium Australia in Sydney to open the group stage.

Young forwards Rikke Madsen and Mille Gejl both earned their first Women’s World Cup opportunity, representing Denmark. Qualifying for the cup for the first time since 2007, and fifth time in country history, Denmark has advanced past the group stage twice in four appearances, reaching the quarterfinals in 1991 and 1995. They join Group D in 2023 alongside England, China, and Haiti.
