CARY, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2017) – Sam Mewis and Lynn WIlliams of the NC Courage have been named to the September NWSL Team of the Month as voted by the NWSL Media Association. Mewis earns her fourth Team of the Month recognition while Williams sees her second appearance as part of the elite XI.
In September, Mewis continued her dominance in the center of the field. Against the Houston Dash, she opened up scoring for the game that would go on to clinch the NWSL Shield for the NC Courage. Her overall performance this season has also made her a finalist for the 2017 NWSL Most Valuable Player Award.
Williams posted her best numbers of the season in September as she scored four and assisted one of the Courage’s nine goals that month. She currently ranks third in the league in shots taken with 78 and is fifth in the league with nine goals total in 2017.
