The North Carolina Courage are all about making an impact in the community and for the last few seasons every goal scored by the Courage at home has done exactly that. For every goal the Courage score at WakeMed Soccer Park club partner Bartol Hoile Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, donated $200 to LEAD Girls of North Carolina.
“This partnership allows us to dream. Bartol Hoile have been partners of ours for the past three years and it allows us to continue to do the work that we do in Title One schools as well as our Community LEAD program. It is also an inspiration to other business leaders to show creative ways to support our work. When we work together as a village, we can really impact girls all over North Carolina,” said LEAD Girls of NC Founder and Executive Director Joy Nelson Thomas.
With 22 goals scored at home this regular season Bartol Hoile Wealth Management rounded up the donation to an even $5,000 for the organization, which works with middle school girls to help make sure they have access to resources that match their potential.
“This partnership with NC Courage and LEAD Girls is very important to Alex and me because we really believe in paying it forward. Alex and I have both helped a lot in our career and have benefited from people who were willing to lend a helping hand. We believe one of the best ways to make an impact in our community is to focus on girls. That’s how we pay it forward for the people who helped us,” Alex Bartol said.
LEAD Girls, which stands for “Learning Everyday Accomplishing Dreams,” believes every girl deserves a chance to be seen, heard, valued, and equipped. Knowing that their resources do not match their limitless potential, LEAD’s mission is to provide preteen girls with tools and resources to become change makers and leaders in their communities.
“We believe everybody has a talent and a skillset. If we can remove some of the barriers to allow that to rise to the top, we believe that will benefit everybody,” Hoile said.
LEAD Girls was presented with a check at the Courage’s last home game of the season, which also gave many of the girls the organization works with an opportunity to come out, enjoy the game and see some of their inspirations up close.
“You can’t be what you can’t see and to see other women on this field just shows our girls that they can do anything. It is an amazing time to get our families, girls and staff together,” Nelson Thomas said.
